Qatar Airways’ award-winning frequent flyer programme (FFP) Privilege Club has announced that its Platinum members can now access Hamad International Airport (HIA)’s exclusive Al Safwa First Class Lounge when flying Business Class with up to two guest passes.
“As part of the airline’s continuous commitment to service excellence, Platinum-tier Privilege Club members travelling Business Class with Qatar Airways and oneworld partner airlines can now enjoy the Al Safwa five-star experience at HIA, which includes delectable a la carte fine-dining, state-of-the-art media and business facilities and a tranquil spa,” Qatar Airways said in a statement yesterday.
The Al Safwa First Class Lounge is a “gleaming example of Arabian grandeur and elite exclusivity in a refined setting”, the statement notes. Recognised as one of the World’s best First Class Lounges, this deluxe facility is based on level three of concourse B at HIA, is designed to offer “a luxurious and culturally enriching premium experience for customers”. From its unique design, which draws influence from ancient Islamic architecture, to its ultramodern range of facilities, Al Safwa First Class Lounge “is an oasis of comfort, style and luxury”.
Qatar Airways Group chief commercial officer Simon Talling-Smith said, “We take tremendous pride in exceeding our passengers’ expectations and this enhancement to our Privilege Club offering is yet another example of our promise to reward our loyal Platinum customers for their continued support.
“This unique and exclusive benefit means that Platinum Privilege Club passengers travelling in either First or Business Class can experience five-star hospitality with Qatar Airways before they even step onto an aircraft.”
Previously, Platinum Privilege Club members were only able to access the HIA lounge applicable to their cabin of travel, with their guest entitlement restricted to use of the dedicated FFP lounges – the First Class and Business Class lounges.
Privilege Club was launched in 2000 as a form of appreciation to Qatar Airways’ loyal passengers, offering them the opportunity to earn Qmiles when travelling on Qatar Airways, oneworld airlines, or any of the airlines’ partners. Qmiles has since served as another convenient means of payment at the award-winning Qatar Duty Free (QDF) outlets, located in both the departure and arrival halls of HIA and at Oryx Galleria in Doha.
Platinum level is the premier tier of membership available in Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club frequent flyer programme. Membership benefits include a range of online booking and QDF shopping discounts, extra Qcredits, a generous additional baggage allowance and 100% Qmiles mileage bonus on all eligible flights, the statement adds.
HIA has recently been ranked as the fourth best airport in the world at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2019. Additionally, it has been ranked as a five-star Airport and honoured with the title of ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ for the fifth year in a row and ‘Best Staff Service in the Middle East’ for the fourth year in a row.
