Ooredoo yesterday launched a new Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity management solution for business customers, called IoT Connect Smart Control, to securely scale up IoT infrastructure in the digital economy.
“Ooredoo IoT Connect is among Ooredoo’s key business offerings, supporting organisations to manage their mobile device and network connectivity. Now, with IoT Connect Smart Control, organisations can find a new and easy-to-use tool to automatically monitor their SIM usage and IoT device connectivity, and generate alerts or take actions on critical events. They will also be able to use these features on 5G network as soon as it becomes available to them,” the company said in a statement.
One of the major business benefits is a new IoT Device Lock, which can alert or control the IoT SIM based on the type or change of an IoT-enabled device. The Smart Control builds on the recent launch of the IoT Connect Single SIM solution, which can enable organisations to automatically set, monitor, and limit data allowances for individual mobile devices.
Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi, chief operating officer at Ooredoo Qatar, said: “Our rollout of smart control features for our IoT Connect solution can make it easier for Qatar’s organisations to start and scale their IoT innovations. Business customers can gain full visibility on their IoT connectivity, make their operations more efficient with smart rules engines, and detect and prevent the misuse of any IoT SIM cards.”
As Qatar’s industry verticals advance their digital transformation, Ooredoo says it expects strong demand for these IoT Connect enhancements across fields such as smart cars; connected ports, factories, and warehouses; smart construction sites; and connected utilities and malls.
Ooredoo business customers interested in adopting IoT Connect can request a demonstration to show practical use cases for their organisation. Supporting Qatar organisations in their IoT deployments, they can start small with a few SIMs and
scale up.
Business customers “can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, making Ooredoo ‘Best for Business’, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and 5G mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and for being a trusted partner for 60 years”, the statement adds.
