Cityscape Qatar is gearing up to host an array of new local and international project launches when the three-day show opens on October 22 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).
This year’s Platinum Exhibition Sponsor, Qetaifan Projects, will reveal its new Lusail City mixed-use development – Qetaifan Island North, the first phase of which is due for completion by November 2021. The island, designed to be Qatar’s future iconic destination, will offer a mix of entertainment, residential, hospitality, and retail investment opportunities.
“The Island’s location and its distinctive waterfront represent a new and exciting way of life that symbolises vision and future ambition, offering its residents an integrated living experience,” said Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Qetaifan Project managing director and Katara Hospitality deputy chairman.
Qetaifan Island North is also intended to serve as a central entertainment and leisure destination for the 2022 FIFA World Cup given its proximity to the Lusail Stadium where the opening match and final will be held.
Qetaifan Island North spans approximately 1.3mn sq m, a 10th of which will be given over to a water park. The island will be packed with family entertainment attractions, distinct neighbourhoods, luxurious hotels, pedestrian friendly streets, gardens, a school, and medical centre.
“It will have world-class facilities that make it a modern, globally-competitive community with a unique design that is inspired by the rich culture and nature of the region,” Sheikh Nasser said.
Also lining up for Cityscape Qatar reveals are second-home properties in Tunisia and a new Swiss lakeside resort.
The upmarket Florens Lake Resort & Spa, which will open its doors in Interlaken, Switzerland in 2021, will debut its upscale vacation apartments that come with a full suite of hotel services. The resort’s Edwin Hanssen said Qataris are being targeted due to their proven preference for Switzerland as a vacation destination.
Owners and visitors of the resort’s upscale apartments will enjoy proximity to famous winter-sports areas and will have access to a private marina on Lake Brienz. With a unique 800m shoreline, offering stunning views of the lake and Alps, the resort will feature restaurants, a spa, fitness facilities and a kids’ club. Buyers will benefit from the resort’s rental concept to ensure an interesting return on investment.
Cityscape Qatar, organised by Cityscape and Elan Group, will run for the first time alongside Index Qatar, the only trade fair exclusively dedicated to the country’s interior design sector.
“The show is a must-attend event for all looking to invest locally and overseas and those wanting to gauge the opportunities, current and future, which exist for homeowners in the Qatar market,” explained Carlo Schembri, exhibition director.
Cityscape Qatar will also feature an opening day conference under the theme ‘Qatar’s Growth Story: Building Tomorrow’s Legacy’, and the ‘Cityscape Talks’ series, which will run on October 23 and 24. Attendance at the probing Cityscape Qatar conference is by invitation only.
The two-day, free-to-attend Cityscape Talks series will feature presentations covering a range of themes from maximising real estate investment, to market trends. Cityscape Qatar is supported by Qetaifan Projects as Platinum Exhibition Sponsor, Qatari Diar as Gold Exhibition Sponsor, and Barwa as Official Strategic Sponsor.
