Organisers of the upcoming Qatar IT Conference & Exhibition ‘Qitcom 2019’ yesterday unveiled the event’s Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking zone, which is expected to receive many visitors from October 29 to November 1 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The B2B zone will be a dedicated area for more than 300 global business owners to network and discuss innovative ideas.
Organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), the B2B zone will be accessible via a special mobile application (Qitcom app) and dedicated zone facilitators to help arrange meetings.
The B2B matchmaking zone aims to bring together more than 500 companies, government agencies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs, and technology providers with potential investors.
B2B matchmaking will serve as a networking platform for upcoming and established businesses to connect with local and global investors. It is an opportunity for organisations to secure investments to set up new offices, partnerships, and sponsorships.
The B2B platform is one of the key highlights of Qitcom 2019 since it helps businesses connect with partners, including local and international governments, investors, and other businesses, as well as specialised firms for collaborations and partnerships. Held under the theme ‘Safe Smart Cities’, Qitcom 2019 is a catalyst for the development of safe smart city solutions in Qatar and around the globe.
Noor Ali al-Kuwari, projects engineer, Digital Industry, said: “We are looking forward to connecting potential investors with the government and business owners. Currently, we have already reached out to more than 100 companies and associations globally and are hoping to establish more than 300 meetings during Qitcom 2019.”
According to a recent study by IDC, Qatar IT Business Directory, The Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2018, and the World Economic Forum, “Qatar’s economy is set to grow at 10% until 2022,” making it a favourable environment for the information and communication sector.
Al-Kuwari added: “There are over 500 ICT companies in Qatar that are continually growing their digital capabilities. We are positive that the B2B matchmaking zone at Qitcom 2019 will offer entrepreneurs the ideal environment to connect, collaborate, and grow. The B2B zone is an effective and easy way to introduce businesses to potential partners, decision makers, and new markets, and is open to all visitors.”
With large digital players like Microsoft, IBM, GE, Ooredoo, Vodafone, and Huawei, Qatar is well positioned to advance its innovative digital agenda. With new government reforms being implemented, Qatar is set for exponential growth in the coming years.
Since its inception, Qitcom has been responsible for bringing together consumers and global experts to understand, envision, and build Qatar’s digital future.
Qitcom 2019 aims to attract 30,000 visitors, witness the signing of MoUs, as well as enter strategic sponsorships and link up investors with opportunities available in the Qatari market.
This year’s event will further contribute towards creating connections across the smart cities ecosystem at a national, regional, and global level.
