HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari held a series of bilateral meetings within the framework of his visit to Malaysia to participate in the second session of the Qatari-Malaysian Joint Trade Committee. 
Al-Kuwari met with Dr Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.
Discussions touched upon the promotion of bilateral relations and the development of joint co-operation, particularly in trade, investment and industry in light of the friendly ties and strategic interests that Qatar and Malaysia share.
Al-Kuwari also met separately with Datuk Darell Leiking, Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry; Mohamed Redzuan Yusof, Minister of Entrepreneur Development; Musa Hitam, chairman,World Islamic Economic Forum; Marzooqi Haji Yahya, Deputy Foreign Minister, and Dr Mohamed Abdul Khalid, Eeconomic adviser to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. 
The meetings focused on the latest developments that the Qatari economy witnessed over the past years and the investment opportunities that Qatar offers across various industries. It also highlighted the incentives and legislation that Qatar enacted including the law on regulating the investment of non-Qatari capital in economic activity and the initiatives aimed at supporting the private sector, attracting foreign direct investment and encouraging Malaysian companies to tap the Qatari market.
Al-Kuwari also held separate meetings with Tan Sri Desmond Lim, chairman of Pavilion Bukit and Mohamed Nazrul Izam bin Mansor, CEO of Felcra BHD. 
The meetings discussed the prospects of joint co-operation in various fields, the investment incentives that Qatar’s economy offers and the initiatives launched by Qatar to support the private sector and attract foreign investments.
