The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Qatari-Malaysian Joint Trade Committee in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The ceremony was attended by Mohamed Abdul Khalid, economic adviser to the Prime Minister of Malaysia; Marzuki bin Haji Yahya, Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister and Fahad Kafoud, Qatar’s ambassador to Malaysia.
The MoU was signed by Ramiz al-Khayyat, vice chairman, Baladna, and Datuk Mohamd Nageeb Abdul Wahab, chairman, FELCRA Bhd.
Al-Khayyat said, “I am delighted that the Qatari dairy industry has come to the world and exported its expertise abroad, in line with the vision and guidance of our wise government. We will strive to be one of the most important dairy manufacturers in Malaysia and East Asia. This will be the most important step after achieving self-sufficiency in milk in Qatar and exporting to several countries such as Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
The partnership will contribute to raising the exports of Baladna’s locally sourced products in Qatar, which will help increase the volume of the company’s exports and achieve its strategic plans.
At the same time, the partnership will provide Felcra with the opportunity to diversify its business and increase its agricultural revenue.
