*Environment Ministry to start receiving applications for registration from Oct 14
*Measures put in place to ensure protection of the environment and success of season

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Committee for Regulating Camping Activities, has announced that it will start receiving applications for registration for the winter camping season 2019-2020 from Monday 14 October through 31 December.

The ministry also announced in a press statement on Thursday, that the official start of the camping season will be 30 October and it will continue until March 30 at several locations.

Ahmed Mohamed al-Sada reviewed the terms and conditions to be followed for the camping season, including the means of safety.

Engineer al-Sada said that the applications can be submitted through government service centres located at various regions of the country, in addition to electronic submission through the official website of the Ministry (www.mme.gov.qa) and the the ministry's app on smart devices.

Registration will be available also at Mall of Qatar, Gulf Mall which will take place from 15 October to 4 days.

Al-Sada explained that the registration will continue in each group until the number of camps allocated to them is completed.

Furthermore, he stressed the keenness of the ministry to take effective measures to ensure the success of the camping season by issuing a list of conditions to be followed during the season to preserve the Qatari environment as well as to ensure that the campers enjoy an ideal camping season.

Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment stressed that the Ministry had increased the open public beaches during this season, to provide entertainment places for the public, reiterating the ministry's keenness to balance the satisfaction of the public, preserving the environment and the protecting natural resources.

In response to a question from Qatar News Agency (QNA) about measures against violators, Director of Protection and Wildlife Department, Omar Salem al-Nuaimi, stressed the ministry's keenness to protect and clean the Qatari environment in co-operation with many working observers. He said measures adopted by the environment ministry, in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior, include the prompt referral of violations to the environmental and municipal prosecution and then to the Supreme Judiciary Council during and after the camping season.

Al-Nuaimi also welcomed all youth and voluntary initiatives organised by schools and youth centres in the field of environmental protection that promote awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
