The UN General Assembly’s six committees began their meetings in New York yesterday after the high-level debates concluded, with Qatar occupying the vice-chair position in the second committee (Economic and Financial Committee).
Qatar is also the rapporteur of the sixth committee (Legal). It is worth noting that the General Assembly voted in July, Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of Qatar to the United Nations Ahmed bin Saif al-Kuwari as Vice-Chairman of the UN Economic and Financial Committee of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The General Assembly also voted Second Secretary at the Permanent Delegation of Qatar to the UN Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani as Rapporteur of UN Legal Committee. Qatar’s election reflects the country’s status in the international community and its active role in promoting the work of the international organisation.
