HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti has held a number of meetings with officials from different countries and organisations on the sidelines of his participation in the 40th Session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) General Assembly, which is taking place in Montreal, Canada.

Thursday, he met Kenyan Minister of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development James Macharia. The two ministers discussed aspects of co-operation in the fields of transportation, mobility services, ports and civil aviation and means of further enhancing them. They also discussed potential investment opportunities in these fields, in addition to a number of matters of common interest between the two friendly countries.

Al-Sulaiti also met Malaysian Minister of Transport Anthony Loke Siew Fook on Thursday. They discussed several topics of common interest to the two friendly countries relating to transportation and mobility services and the means of further enhancing them. They also discussed potential investment opportunities in both countries and increasing co-operation in the fields of ports, navigation lines and cargo and commodity shipbuilding.

Separately, he met the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport of Lesotho, Mokherane Tsatsanyane, yesterday and discussed aspects of co-operation in the fields of transportation services and civil aviation and the means of further enhancing them, in addition to a number of matters of common interest between the two friendly countries.

The Minister met Cameroon’s Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe and discussed a number of topics of common interest between the two friendly countries relating to transportation, ports and civil aviation and the means of further enhancing them.

Qatar’s ambassador to Canada Saud bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) chairman Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al-Subaey attended these meetings.

Al-Sulaiti also held talks yesterday with the president of Cuba’s Institute of Aeronautics and Civil Aviation (Instituto de Aeronáutica Civil de Cuba IACC) and the Latin American Civil Aviation Commission (CAC) Armando Daniel López. They discussed Qatar-CAC co-operation in the areas of air transport safety, security and quality. Ambassador al-Mahmoud, al-Subaey and secretary of the Latin American CAC Jaime Binder also attended the meeting.

Earlier on Wednesday, al-Sulati held talks with a number of officials. They included the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Maldives, Aishath Nahula.

Al-Sulaiti and Nahula discussed aspects of co-operation in the fields of transport services and civil aviation and ways to enhance them, in addition to the possibility of taking advantage of the investment opportunities available in these areas.

Al-Sulaiti also met Indian Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri, Spanish Minister of Development Jose Luis Abalos, Senegal's Minister of Tourism and Air Transport Alioune Sarr, the head of the Brazilian diplomatic delegation director-president of Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency, José Ricardo Botelho.
