What’s happening to us? Why are humans so obsessed with other humans nowadays? When did we learn to be so judgmental? How come our lives aren’t our prime and main focus but others’ are? Listen up people, we need to change our ways and now is the time! If we do not act now, it will be too late, and I am really scared of what the future may hold for us… What am I talking about? I am talking about having a good conscience and the sad loss of our general principles of being “good.”
Our parents, our teachers, our elders and all the religions tell us to be good humans and to follow these basic principles in life:
1. Be yourself, do not change for anyone.
2. Stop comparing yourself to others.
3. Stop talking about, making fun or hating on others.
4. Mind yourself and mind your own business.
5. Do not interfere in others’ lives.
6. Think and act with your conscience.
7. Help, assist and support others when you can.
8. Wish and hope for the best for others.
9. Do not try to (purposely) publicly embarrass others.

What happened to all these principles we were taught during our upbringing? I urge you to stop and think about how you actually think, how you behave, how you talk about others and how much time you spend focusing on others rather than yourself. In my religion, Islam, we are all generally raised to keep to ourselves, to work on ourselves and to hope for the best for our lives and the afterlife. We are taught to believe that God is the only judge and that we have no right to judge each other. We are also taught that we should want good for others and not only for ourselves but to also help others when we can. These all go back to one main moral: having a good conscience and keeping it that way. One of the hardest challenges of life as a human is to keep that good conscience throughout the ups and the downs. It may seem that when people are weak due to a sad or angry moment and might lose touch with their good conscience and be tempted to be “not as good” and maybe act out on others, but remember that is the biggest challenge of all, staying strong and focusing on yourself no matter what obstacles may come before you. Even if you feel you need or want to focus on others, only use that as motivation to be better, but not to start hating.
So as a society, or even better as a part of the human race, let’s aim to go back to the basic principles of life and use our precious time and energy for ourselves and step away from all this negative behaviour. Let’s stop looking at others, comparing ourselves to them and complaining about or hating on them too. People need to stop thinking the worst of others and seriously stop wishing the worst for others. Why would you wish unhappiness for someone? Think of all the time you may have wasted discussing people and their lives or even thinking about them and analysing their lives, wasn’t it a waste? Couldn’t you have used that time to focus on yourself and become an even better person? Think about it and see how you feel now. Are you really a good person?
