Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), is taking part in the 14th edition of the International Show of Agriculture, Machinery and Fishing (SIAMAP 2019) to be held in Tunisia from September 24-29.
Masoud Jarallah al-Marri, director, food security department at the MME, said in a press conference in Tunis that Qatar’s participation in this edition is in pursuance of the national strategy for food security which aims to enhance local production by introducing local companies on the latest technologies being displayed in SIAMAP 2019.
He pointed out that Qatar’s participation aims at enhancing import opportunities of food products to achieve the international trade standards recommended by the national strategy for food security.
He added that this participation will introduce the culture and heritage of Qatar by familiarising visitors with traditional crafts, and also showcase the national heritage of Qatar like costumes, henna painting and cuisine.
Al-Marri, who is also the vice-chairman of the committee for the preparation and participation of the Qatar in SIAMAP 2019, said that a special pavilion has been allocated for Qatar to display the latest preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, introducing in this context the eight stadiums of the World Cup and displaying documentary films, and a presentation of the most important inland transport projects such as (Qatar Rail), as one of the most important landmarks of the state, accomplished in a record period.
He explained that Qatar’s participation comes in response to the invitation of Tunisia represented by the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fishing. (QNA)
