Qatar Chamber held a meeting Saturday with a Chinese trade delegation led by the Chinese Foreign Trade Centre (CFTC).
Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari met with CFTC director general Li JinQi to discuss ways to enhance bilateral co-operation between the chamber and CFTC to boost trade volume between Qatar and China.
The two officials also discussed preparations for the ‘Canton Fair’, which is organised by the CFTC in Guangzhou.
Al-Kuwari said China is an important trade partner for the private sector in the State of Qatar. He said trade volume reached close to QR50bn, adding that Qatari companies “always look forward to establish deals and alliances with Chinese companies.”
He also said the ‘Canton Fair’ is an event that Qatari businessmen “find very interesting,” and stressed that the chamber is committed to the enhancement of bilateral trade relations between Qatar and China.
For his part, Li expressed hope that Qatari companies will participate in the fair, which is described as one of the biggest trade events in terms of the number of products and participating sellers. He also said the centre plays an important role in enhancing trade ties between China and the rest of the world.
Li said the first stage of the fair will be held from October 15 to 19, and will specialise in the electronic and electrical devices, building materials, metal tools, machinery, and the equipment sector. The second stage will be held from October 31 to November 4 and will feature foodstuffs, beverages, home accessories, textiles, and clothes.
The CFTC official also underscored the importance of Qatari market, and called on Qatari companies and businesspersons to visit the expo.
