The Ministry of Interior (MoI) yesterday inaugurated a new website “Policeman My Friend”, which aims to promote traffic awareness among children and enhance their awareness of traffic culture in general.
The Director of Traffic Awareness Department Colonel Mohamed Radi al-Hajri explained that the launching of the website serves traffic awareness, in particular, and awareness in general, and works to break the barrier between children and police as it is full of children-friendly characters.
Al-Hajri stressed that spreading traffic awareness among children is one of the goals of the department.
He pointed out that as children are the next generation of road users, whether they are pedestrians or drivers. Paying attention to them has advantages for traffic safety, he said.
For his part, the Assistant Director of Public Relations Department of MoI Major Mubarak Salem al-Buainain said that the ministry is always keen on employing modern technologies to serve the security.
Major al-Buainain called on parents and educational institutions to take advantage of the content available on the website through the link, https://portal.moi.gov.qa/kids/
The head of the research and studies section in the Public Relations Department at MoI, HE Sheikha al-Anoud bint Faisal al-Thani, said that the “Policeman My Friend” website is an electronic window containing many cultural activities that suit children and meet their need for knowledge, in order to teach and educate them through playing and to participate in interactive activities in the so-called (fun learning).
She pointed out that the website aims to strengthen the role of the police and its noble message in the minds of children and develop a sense of security among them, noting that the content of the website includes expressive stories and children’s creations and content related to policemen in the country to devote the concept of real citizenship in children.
She added that the website contains the right information that helps children and their parents to deal with various accidents such as fires at home or injuries that may occur, and it also presents “Policeman My Friend” magazines, which is issued by the Department of Public Relations.
The inauguration of the website took place at the General Directorate of Traffic in the presence of a number of officers at the Ministry of Interior, and about 26 children from Al Manar International School and Kindergarten.
The ceremony included a lecture on traffic safety for children.
