The Q Weather mobile application, launched by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday, will bring weather updates and warnings to the fingertips of Qatar residents.

“Q Weather is the new digital platform for all weather updates in English and Arabic,” Meteorology department director Abdulla Mohamed al-Mannai told a presentation at the opening ceremony of the Mukaynis Meteorological Centre.

Apart from the hourly forecast, daily report on weather across Qatar is available in the application. The report consists of updates regarding temperature, humidity rate, wind speed and wave height on the coast and at sea. Important updates and warnings about weather conditions during dust storm or strong winds and thunderstorm are also available on the website.

Weather updates in the important cities of the world are given in the application while users are allowed to add more cities to the list.

Users are given a weather forecast for more than 15 days. This is in addition to the monthly reports that include the most important climate information for each month of the year.

The application features a profile of the Civil Aviation Authority in addition to contact information of the Meteorology Department. The application also works as an interactive platform through which the public can send e-mails to the department.
