Qatar and Gambia have strengthened bilateral relations with the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) Wednesday in Doha, in the presence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the visiting Gambian President Adama Barrow.

The two leaders held a session of official talks at the Amiri Diwan. They discussed bilateral relations and aspects of developing co-operation in various fields, especially in agriculture, tourism and infrastructure. In addition, they discussed a number of issues of common concern.
Subsequently, His Highness the Amir and the Gambian president witnessed the signing of two agreements. One was on mutual administrative assistance for the optimal application of the customs law and for the suppression, investigation and control of customs violations, and the other was on mutual inclusion of land in the satellite service area.

The MoUs were for co-operation in the fields of youth and sports, and legal co-operation between the Ministries of Justice in both countries. A number of ministers from Qatar and members of the official delegation accompanying the Gambian president attended.
President Barrow was earlier accorded an official reception at the Amiri Diwan upon his arrival. His Highness the Amir also hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of President Barrow and the delegation accompanying him, at the Amiri Diwan. A number of ministers from Qatar were present.
