Initiative aims to increase access to education for marginalised and impoverished children in Qatar
After successfully raising QR1mn for Education Above All (EAA), Carrefour in Qatar launched a new fundraising campaign on Monday, aimed at increasing access to education for impoverished children across the country. During the back-to-school season until September 10, Carrefour will match the amount donated by customers at cash counters.
If a customer donates QR10 (for example), Carrefour will donate QR10 as well with all proceeds going towards EAA. “We have committed to helping transform the lives of the less fortunate children in our community by offering them access to quality education. Our previous campaign was a huge success owing to the unwavering support of our loyal customers,” Carrefour Qatar’s country head Laurent Hausknecht said in a press statement.
“We aim to build on this new initiative so that together we can create great moments for children most in need of them,” Hausknecht added.
Carrefour was launched in Qatar in 1999 and it operates five hypermarkets and five supermarkets today, employing more than 1,800 colleagues.
EAA’s Fundraising and Partnerships specialist Moza al-Mansouri said: “Every contribution to EAA’s educational projects and programmes creates tangible impact in the communities that these projects operate and serve.”
“Our main purpose is to assist and provide marginalised and impoverished children with access to quality education. We would like to thank the Carrefour team for their support through this campaign in backing our efforts in helping children access opportunity for a better future,” al-Mansouri added.
