Al Rayyan Municipality continues to implement a campaign to remove all violations from farms within its jurisdiction, as part of a comprehensive nationwide plan of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in this regard.

The campaign is being conducted in co-operation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, and the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the MME has said in a statement.

The campaign has resulted in the elimination of a large number of violations over the past few days, including the unlicensed construction of warehouses, shops, labourers' accommodation, garages and workshops.

In addition, a large quantity of waste materials, debris as well as abandoned vehicles, equipment and trucks were removed, the statement noted.

The campaign targets the removal of all violations from 16 farms within the municipality, which include various illegal commercial activities, construction of storehouses and workers' accommodation, the use of agricultural land for non-farming purposes and non-compliance with ownership and licensing terms.

The MME stressed that the campaign would continue until all violations are corrected.

The campaign comes within the framework of the MME's keenness to amend the conditions of farms in order to benefit from them to achieve ??food security in the country.
