The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), along with its associate organisation, Friends of Pattanamtitta (FOPTA), will conduct "a fiesta of instrumental fusion" at 7.30pm Thursday. The event will be held at the ICC's Ashoka Hall.
Musicians who have served the Indian Navy for around two decades will present the instrumental fusion along with vocal experts from Qatar. The show will feature musical instruments such as nadaswarum, flute, Carnatic violin, Western violin, saxophone/flute, trumpet and keyboard, mridagum, tavil, rhythm, bass guitar, head guitar and the keyboard, the ICC has said in a statement.
These will be presented along with classical fusion in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil, to be showcased by some 13 experienced artistes.
The programme is a continuation of the initiative by Indian Cultural Centre along with all ICC associate organisations, Indian schools and Indian cultural institutions in Qatar, to have cultural shows every week at the Ashoka Hall located on the ICC premises.
"Such programmes will also provide a suitable platform and opportunities for associate organisations of different states of India to showcase their culture," the statement added. Entry will be free for all, and the ICC managing committee has urged the Indian community members to attend such events.
