The Qatar Authors' Forum, affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Sports, signed a co-operation agreement at the Ministry's headquarters Wednesday with Qalam Hebr Company for Creative Writing to enhance the relationship between authors and cultural and literary institutions.
The agreement was signed by Director of the Qatar Authors' Forum Maryam Yassin al-Hammadi and Founder and CEO of Qalam Hebr for Creative Writing Buthaina al-Janahi.
Under this agreement, al-Hammadi stressed that the Qatar Authors' Forum is working to increase the societal cultural participation through partnerships with the authorities concerned in particular, in addition to those that are indirectly associated with it, in order to create distinct national cultural talents by providing conducive atmosphere.
She added that culture enriches the cultural scene through ways that suit different groups, and seeks to promote creativity and nurture national talent, adding that culture is a complete framework for preserving identity, promoting citizenship and communication.
Al-Hammadi pointed out that these partnerships with cultural and creative entities constitute an important addition to the role of the Qatar Authors' Forum in enriching the cultural movement, based on constructive criticism and intellectual analysis.
She pointed out that the importance of the agreement lies in enhancing the role of authors by supporting and encouraging them to develop their creativity, through agreed activities and events, and provide appropriate mechanisms in order to promote the cultural and community development on which the forum focuses.
For her part, al-Janahi said today's intellectual is different from that of yesterday's as a result of the development of cultural tools that contributed to the expression of public conscience, and the variety of tools that don't stand on one axis in the literary arena.
She added that this requires the integration of other expressive means such as art, image, music, poetry and other means that enhance the aesthetic and profound value of language, which they tried to work on in Qalam Hebr.
Al Janahi expressed her happiness at signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented by the Qatar Authors' Forum, which is concerned with activating creative writing platforms and contributing to the development of the cultural and creative movement and thanked the ministry for giving Qalam Hebr the opportunity to cooperate to achieve a common cultural goal.
