The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that the Tilted Interchange tunnel will be opened on Sunday evening to traffic from Al Gharrafa towards Al Rayyan.
The interchange tunnel was built as part of Khalifa Avenue road project implemented in co-ordination with General Directorate of Traffic.
In a bid to allow for the opening of the new tunnel and accelerate the completion of the remaining works at the Tilted Interchange, Ashghal will implement a temporary traffic diversion for a month.
During the closure, traffic from Al-Luqta Street and main Al-Gharrafa Street through the Tilted Intersection signals will not be able to go towards Huwar Street. Traffic must continue towards Gharrafat Al Rayyan Interchange and follow the signs to reach destinations.
Ashghal has asked road users heading towards local roads and Dukhan to make use of the existing Al-Gharrafa Street instead of the new tunnel.
Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the changes on the road and has requested all road users to abide by the 50km speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure safety.
