The Editor-in-Chief of the local Arabic daily Arrayah, Saleh bin Afsan al-Kuwari, passed away in London Tuesday while undergoing treatment in the UK capital. He was 57. Arrayah is a sister publication of Gulf Times.
Al-Kuwari, who was also chairman of Qatar Press Centre, assumed the post of Arrayah's Editor-in-Chief on September, 6, 2008. He was earlier deputy managing editor of Qatar News Agency (QNA).
A gifted writer and a staunch supporter of Qatar's stance, he succeeded in consolidating Arrayah's position as a pioneering and leading newspaper in the region.
Al-Kuwari had headed QNA teams at various international, Arab, GCC and local events.
He defended Qatar against the false propaganda unleashed by individuals and organisations in some countries, particularly after the unjust blockade was imposed on Qatar by some of its neighbours.
A collection of his articles has been published in the form of a book titled "Qatar Stronger Than the Blockade", which was launched on July 2, 2018.
Expressing his condolences , Gulf Times Editor-in-Chief Faisal Abdulhameed al-Mudahka said he has lost a brother, a dear friend and a respected colleague.
