The Community Policing Department of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) signed Sunday an agreement, aimed at enhancing co-operation to serve the target groups in areas related to the security, safety and cohesion of families and society.
In addition, an office has been announced at the Community Policing Department building for the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN) and the Family Counseling Centre (WIFAQ), under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, in order to facilitate service access to targeted social cases and shorten the procedures and the time and advice, treatment, assistance and rehabilitation before transferring them to the competent authorities.
The Director of International Co-operation Department at MoI, Major General Engineer Abdul Aziz Abdullah al-Ansari, said that the agreement between the Community Police Department and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work is an umbrella for future institutional work, because the work between them has been continuous in previous periods, making this phase a transition to a better stage for fruitful co-operation.
Al-Ansari stressed the keenness of the Ministry of Interior to co-operate with all state institutions in various fields to achieve more security at all levels, praising the role of civil society institutions in the country and its co-operation with the Ministry of Interior for joint work to achieve the well-being and stability of families in the Qatari society.
The CEO of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, Amal Abdullatif al-Mannai, said that the Foundation is keen to extend bridges of co-operation and partnership with the government sector, especially the Ministry of Interior.
Al-Mannai stressed that the signing of the agreement is an extension of the existing co-operation between the foundation and its centres on the one hand and the Ministry of Interior and its department concerned on the other, adding that this agreement, which the foundation has worked on for more than two years, will lead to co-operation protocols between the departments of the Ministry and the concerned centres of the foundation.
She stressed that in the special cases of women and children resorting to the community police, they are referred to the office to provide advice or rehabilitation before referring to the competent authorities and within the confidentiality and privacy necessary for such cases.
The Executive Director of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN), Dr Mansour Ahmed al-Saadi al-Yafei, highlighted the importance of the agreement as the basis for co-operation between the Foundation represented by its affiliated centres and the ministry represented by security departments and community police.
Col Sultan Mohamed al-Kaabi, Director of the Community Policing Department, said that the co-operation of the community police with civil society institutions in Qatar in general and with the centres under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work is close, continuous and effective, pointing out that the signing of the co-operation agreement is an extension of joint efforts.
He pointed out that with the signing of the agreement, there will be branch offices of AMAN and WIFAQ in the Community Policing Department, adding that these centres provide family counseling services and social and psychological support for families and individuals.
The Executive Director of WIFAQ, Rashid Ahmed al-Dosari, explained that the agreement constitutes a very important step in the field of community partnership between the government sector and civil society institutions, which will enhance the exchange of experiences and capabilities among the co-operating parties in order to achieve common goals which brings stability and cohesion to the Qatari family and community.
