Qatar’s leading logistics provider GWC welcomed Sri Lankan ambassador Kithsiri Athulathmudali at the Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) on Saturday.

The Sri Lankan envoy’s site tour was to get a general idea about GWC’s offering and the Sri Lankan employees and included a tour of the integrated logistics hub, which offers bespoke supply chain logistics and warehousing solutions, spanning 1mn sq m infrastructure; the largest logistics of its kind in the region.

Athulathmudali was received by Tia Prang, senior director (Human Resources) and Mohammad Daoud, senior manager (Corporate Communications) among others.

GWC’s "strategically positioned" LVQ, some 15km off the Hamad Port, 18km from Hamad International Airport, just 2km from Doha’s main industrial area, and "immediately accessible" through the country’s G-Ring Road, offers the “most comprehensive, globally recognised” supply chain solutions.

Organised, structured, integrated, IT enabled, and “ready-to-go”, the LVQ was conceived and developed on a scale that has set “new benchmarks” in logistics infrastructure, GWC said.

Athulathmudali said, “Its’s a great pleasure visiting your organisation and the facilities provided to your employees. I’m extremely impressed with what I saw, not only from health and welfare perspective; but in general, how GWC is providing work life balance to its employees.

“It’s been a fantastic experience and I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and working with you in the future in order to enhance your organisation providing you with skilled employment from Sri Lanka, as well as continue our dialogue of mutual interest.”

LVQ harnesses highest standards for health and safety, fire suppression and security within the premises, allowing for optimum handling of goods stored within. Environment protection is also taken seriously when it comes to the use of packaging materials and recyclables.

The company implements reduce, reuse and recycle (RRR) practices at all times to achieve this objective. A multinational work force lives in high standards accommodation buildings while entertainment and living needs being secured for them.

“It was a pleasure to host HE the Ambassador of Sri Lanka at LVQ, showcasing what Qatar is capable of, while reviewing possible avenues of collaboration,” stated Prang.

“The grand vision behind developing the LVQ was to provide regional and international companies with customisable, instantly operational platforms to meet their logistics needs, while maintaining and developing highly qualified human talent capable of handling their tasks in a safe and loving environment.”
