Ooredoo has announced that it climbed 20 places in the recent home Internet Speed Test Global Index 2019 rankings, putting it ahead of many other countries in the region, as well as international IT powerhouses, such as Australia and the UK.

The impressive average speed provided to Qatar households moved up to 70Mbps, an improvement underpinned by Ooredoo’s implementation of a new strategy increasing home Internet speeds to up to five times faster than before - at no extra charge - from February this year.

Ooredoo’s continued commitment to and investment in the country’s only nationwide fibre infrastructure has ensured the delivery of outstanding world-class unlimited home Internet at average speeds of up to 70Mbps and a maximum speed of 10Gbps, bringing the fastest Internet to every home in Qatar and setting standards for the future.

Ooredoo Qatar CEO Waleed al-Sayed said: “We’re rightfully proud of our fibre network and home Internet provision, and proud our commitment and hard work is paying off. We’re working tirelessly to provide the best coverage and highest speeds to all homes across Qatar, and we’re extremely pleased to see this international recognition of our efforts and achievements.

“We’re also pleased to share this good news with our customers, as it makes our Ooredoo ONE complete home connectivity and entertainment package an even more attractive proposition: everything they need for the whole family to stay connected and be entertained at home, as well as officially one of the fastest home internet speeds in the world.”
