Residents and visitors in the country have the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of ‘Summer in Qatar (SiQ)’ activities and entertainment shows this weekend.

SiQ forms part of Qatar National Tourism Council’s strategy to enrich and diversify the country’s tourism offering, particularly in the area of family and urban entertainment.

The ‘Jungle’ roaming act, which began at Al Khor Mall, Lagoona Mall, and Gulf Mall on Thursday, is expected to attract a large number of families and children again on Friday at three malls, featuring a forest-themed show.

The colourful and one-of-its-kind performance will welcome visitors of Doha Festival City starting at 3.30pm before going to Tawar Mall at 6pm and Landmark at 9pm.

The show will continue on Saturday at Mall of Qatar to entertain people from 2.30pm, then at The Mall from 5pm before heading to Mirqab Mall at 7pm and Hyatt Plaza Mall at 9.30pm.

Avenger fans will have another opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ their favourite characters at various malls across the country on Friday starting at Hyatt Plaza Mall (2.30 to 3pm). Other locations also include Mirqab Mall (5 to 5.30pm), The Mall (7 to 7.30pm), and Mall of Qatar (9.30 to 10pm).

This activity will continue on Saturday at Gulf Mall (3.30 to 4pm), Lagoona Mall (6 to 6.30pm) and Al Khor Mall (9 to 9.30pm).

Another recently-launched summer activity at Doha Festival City, which has been attracting a large number of participants since Tuesday, is the first ever Lego festival in Qatar.

Running until September 17, this unique event features an array of Lego activities in four different zones, including Lego Friends, Lego Zoo, Lego Duplo, and Lego Technic + Architecture, free of charge for shoppers between 2pm and 10pm daily.

According to Doha Festival City, the festival engages participants to a variety of experiences such as creative brick building, instructed challenges, and physical activations.

Doha Festival City also hosts other summer activities, including the Gaming Festival at Virtuocity, which gives players a chance to win a pool prize of QR60,000; and the ‘Classic Cars’ exhibition (in collaboration with Mawater Centre), featuring 12 classic cars.

Apart from activities being held at malls, those spending their weekend in Doha can also head to Souq Waqif for the 4th Local Dates Festival on Friday to buy and savour a wide variety of fresh locally-grown dates.

Other ongoing SiQ activities include the sales and raffle draws at various participating malls (until August 16), Fitness Friday at Al Mirqab (until August 9), Fusion Kids Camp at the ACS Doha International School (until August 8), Mall of Qatar Kids Summer Camp at various locations (until August 8), Paris Saint-Germain Academy Football Camp at various locations (until August 8), and Summer Membership Programme (swimming) at Education City (until August 17).
