Qatar on Thursday dispatched an aircraft equipped with medical staff to the Aden Adde International Airport in the Somali capital Mogadishu to transport those injured in the suicide attack that targeted officials in the Municipality of Mogadishu, to Doha for treatment.

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the plane has 12 injured people onboard, including the mayor of Mogadishu, in addition to 16 escorts, led by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Somalia Khadijo Mohamed Diriye.

It is worth noting that the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Somalia Mahdi Mohamed Gulaid and Qatar's Ambassador to the Republic of Somalia Hassan bin Hamza Hashim welcomed the plane as it landed in Mogadishu.

A number of ministers and deputies in the People's Assembly and Senate in Somalia, and representatives of regional and international organisations accredited to Somalia were also at hand to welcome the Qatar aircraft.
