As part of its commitment to raise digital literacy awareness in the country, Vodafone Qatar has invited all employees operating in companies located at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) to learn how to keep their children safe in the digital world.
Hundreds of people attended the event that came under the banner of Vodafone Qatar’s award winning online safety programme, AmanTECH.
With schools closed for the summer holidays, children are spending a significant amount of time online. Using a series of quick interactive activities, the employees were taught core skills around YouTube and YouTube Kids differences, Snap Chat Map features, and how to setup parental safety settings and managing their child’s activity on devices.
“Qatar is one of the most connected countries in the world and children are exposed to technology from a very young age. At Vodafone Qatar, we aim to empower parents and to help them equip their children with the right tools and understanding to navigate the digital world safely and to take full advantage of its benefits,” said Khames Mohamed al-Naimi, chief human resources officer at Vodafone Qatar.
Vodafone Qatar launched AmanTECH in 2014, which has been working through a three-pronged approach to reach out to parents, teachers, and children aged between five and 17 with a focus on awareness, education and technical support. The AmanTECH programme includes ongoing workshops, an online source for information, and tips for parents at www.vodafone.qa/AmanTECH.
