Qatar participated in the meetings of the 93rd ordinary session of the Standing Committee for Arab Media, which started Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
Qatar's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz al-Sahlawi led Qatar's delegation to the meetings.
The meetings' agenda includes 18 items to be presented Tuesday before the 11th session of the Arab Information Ministers Council Executive Office, and then to be submitted to the 50th session of the Arab Information Ministers Council Wednesday.
The session will focus on the Palestinian cause as it is the central issue of the Arab nation, especially in light of the intransigence of the Israeli side. It will also discuss several issues including the international media plan to counter the unilateral American decision that recognises Jerusalem as the capital of the Israeli occupation state.
The latest edition of the Arab Media code of ethics, which establishes the values and principles of professionalism and ethics of media professionals and is in line with regional and international developments.
The agenda includes a number of other important items, namely the Arab media strategy, Arab media map for sustainable development, the role of Arab media in tackling the phenomenon of terrorism, the Arab electronic media committee and the Arab media capital.
The committee is set to work on developing new ideas for the Arab media action plan abroad, enabling it to play its role and serve the three pillars that it is working to strengthen, which are the Palestinian cause, terrorism and redress the image of Arabs and Muslims.
