Nikon, pioneers in imaging technology and camera equipment, has launched its "first-ever" full-frame mirrorless Z Series in Qatar with two cameras, the Z6 and Z7, along with its Z mount system.
The launch event was held in Doha on July 11.
"The latest cameras from the imaging solutions giant are ideal for upcoming videographers and video houses of the region. Both the mirrorless cameras, Nikon Z7 and Z6, have been carefully designed prioritising the needs of videographers, making them ideal for capturing striking, sharp stills and videos with brilliant clarity. The revolutionary Z mount is wider than any full-frame mount available," a press statement noted.
Albert Yap, founder of Motion In Style Cinematography, a leading wedding cinematography production house in Malaysia, was the honourable guest speaker at the launch event.
The Nikon Z Series is an "innovative full-frame mirrorless camera system that combines advanced video features with legendary Nikon reliability and optical excellence".

A view of the gathering

Attendees were invited to see for themselves the advanced features the Z Series offers, including 4K UHD recording, Time Code, focus peaking, uncompressed HDMI output, N-Log and more.
In addition to its advanced content capture capabilities, the Nikon Z Series offers a range of features that seek to enhance the video workflow and "offer ultimate creative control" in post-production, such as 10-bit HDMI output, N-Log, Time Code and focus peaking, making the Nikon Z "perfect for the rapidly growing industry of videographers and filmmakers in Qatar".
The Nikon Z7 is "genuinely a leap into the future of video as it is the first-ever FX-format mirrorless camera with high-megapixel of 45.7", the statement points out. With a focus point of 493 that covers 90% of the viewfinder and a new EXPEED 6 image processing engine for more precise, more focused pictures, it also allows continuous shooting up to nine frames per second (fps) in burst mode.
The Nikon Z6 offers "unmatched video features for full frame video recording with its ergonomic design that enables superior high-sensitivity performanc"e. It makes for "much better photography experiences" in a wide range of shooting scenarios even in low light, with its 24.5 megapixels.
With 273 focus points covering 90% of the image area, it is a quick-capture camera offering 12 frames per second (fps) in continuous running mode.
Both the Z7 and Z6 are equipped with an all-new backside illumination full-frame and Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor with built-in focal-plane phase-detection AF pixels.
With the latest Z mount and its large inner diameter and short flange focal distance, and the latest NIKKOR Z lenses, these cameras can deliver improved low-light performance and edge-to-edge detail in both stills and video. The Nikon Z mount system takes the performance of these new mirrorless cameras a notch higher with its large lens mount, which features a 55mm inner diameter and short 16mm flange focal distance that allows for much higher flexibility in the optical design of NIKKOR Z lenses; making maximum apertures as wide as f/0.95 possible.
There are currently three new-age NIKKOR Z lenses - a 24-70mm f/4, a 35mm f/1.8 and a 50mm f/1.8. Nikon is also currently building its "fastest lens ever" with the NIKKOR Z 58mm f/0.95 S Noct.
"The rapidly growing industry of videographers and filmmakers is a growing market for Nikon's Z series in Qatar, and this launch event proved to be an excellent way for photography professionals to get the first glimpse of this revolutionary technology in the region," the statement adds.
The launch event saw the prominent, as well as budding members of the filmmaking and videography community in Qatar, come together to witness the future of video through these imaging solutions.
