*Discussions focus on strengthening partnership in various fields

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the Amir's residence in Washington DC Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed the strategic bilateral relations and ways to enhance the partnership between the two countries in various fields.
The Amir and the US Secretary of State also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, mainly the situation in Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Libya and Yemen, as well as the situation in Afghanistan.
Pompeo thanked the Amir for the remarkable role played by Qatar and its contribution to bringing about peace by sponsoring the intra-Afghan dialogue.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir.

His Highness the Amir met US Senator Lindsey Graham, at the Amir's residence in Washington Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed the relations of friendship and strategic cooperation between Qatar and the United States and areas of their development, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern.
His Highness the Amir received Gina Haspel, Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, at his residence in Washington DC.
The Amir also received and held talks with Wilbur Ross, US Secretary of Commerce.
His Highness the Amir was also scheduled to meet senior members and office-bearers of the Congress including the Chairman and members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Chairman and a number of members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and 
Chairman and members of the House Committee on Armed Services.
On Tuesday evening, His Highness the Amir met with Acting US Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan in Washington DC.
During the meeting, they reviewed the strategic bilateral relations, especially in the security field, and ways of developing and strengthening them to include cybersecurity and its development in the field of co-operation between the two countries during Qatar hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and America in 2026.
The meeting was attended by a number of members of the accompanying official delegation.
