The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Tuesday announced the completion of the partial expansion of Shuail bin Abdulla Al Attiya Street in the Al Kharatiyat area from one to two lanes in each direction with a new service road on the side of the street.
According to a press release issued by Ashghal, the entrance of Grand Hypermarket will be closed and diverted to an alternative road from today in order to complete infrastructural works on the street. The closure will last for a period of one year and is to be implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
During this period, road users can reach Grand Hypermarket in the following manner (as shown on attached the map: 

* Traffic coming from the street parallel to Al Shamal Road and heading to Grand Hypermarket have to turn left to Shuail bin Abdulla Al Attiya Street and then turn right towards Al Kharaitiyat Street, before turning right to the alternative road to reach the new entrance behind Grand Hypermarket.

* Traffic coming from Shuail bin Abdulla Al Attiya Street (from the direction of Al Kharaitiyat Medical Centre) and heading towards the roundabout known as Al Kharaitiyat Roundabout will have to turn left at the roundabout to Al Kharaitiyat Street and then turn right to the
alternative road.

* Traffic on Shuail bin Abdulla Al Attiya Street, to the east of Al Kharaitiyat Street, will have to make a U-turn and then use the alternative road from Al Kharaitiyat Street.

The traffic change is aimed at allowing the completion of infrastructural works on Shuail bin Abdulla Al-Attiya Street as part of the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Kharaitiyat and Izghawa - Phase 1, Package 3, and in line with Ashghal’s efforts to rehabilitate existing roads and establish new and permanent roads in the area, the statement notes.
Ashghal will instal road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift, and has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
