Qatar has submitted its "first application" for membership of the ICAO Council for the upcoming Council session within "Category C" for the election to be held during the ICAO Assembly in September.
The application was submitted at a meeting HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed al-Sulaiti had with the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organisation Dr Fang Liu at the ICAO office in Montreal, Canada on Thursday.
The meeting reviewed Qatar-ICAO relations in civil aviation industry and means of further enhancing them. It also discussed aviation security and safety in the region, stressing its importance for maintaining highest efficiency levels.
Qatar’s ambassador to Canada Saud bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud and chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al-Subaey also attended the meeting.
