The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has celebrated the platinum jubilee of “CA Day” by organising a CPE (continuing professional education) seminar where the accountants reaffirmed that they will continue to make a positive contribution in nation building, be it in Qatar or India.
The seminar ‘Understand the Basics and Become a Better Leader”, which was held at Doha Bank Auditorium, saw more than 130 members and students attend.
ICAI chairperson Rukkaiya Pachisa welcomed the members to the celebratory event and Doha Bank group chief executive Dr R Seetharaman was the chief guest, who gave an insightful and motivational talk to members emphasising that how positivity and the right attitude can convert every crisis into an opportunity.
The keynote speaker Major (retired) Colin Bowden Smith, a safety manager with Talent Development in Qatar Airways, gave an overview on leadership where he discussed various interesting aspects on leadership style and behaviour in order to become a better leader.
A Qatari student, Noura Jaber al-Hemaidi gave a feedback on how Qatar has progressed and acknowledged the contribution of the Indian community, particularly chartered accountants, in the economic development of Qatar.
The Doha Chapter of ICAI is established in the year 1981 and is the oldest among the 34 overseas chapters of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India. The current membership of the chapter is approximately 300, who hold key positions in private and public sector establishments in Qatar and are actively involved in support and development of accounting profession in Qatar.
