Qatar Charity (QC), in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Aster Medical Centre, has launched the ‘Restore A Child’s Sight’ initiative as part of its ‘Charity Starts at Home’ campaign to provide eyeglasses to students belong to low-income families in Qatar. 
Accordingly, QC, in collaboration with the ministry, has distributed 338 coupons to purchase eyeglasses for 68 students at Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Preparatory Independent School for Boys, 23 students at Halima Al Sadia Primary School for Girls, and students of other schools in the country, it said in a statement recently. 
Some 1,000 students are expected to benefit from this initiative, the statement notes.
The initiative targets school students aged 4-18 years to conduct free medical examinations for them by specialists at Aster Medical Centre and distribute coupons to them to purchase eyeglasses according to the need. In its first phase, the initiative covers nine government and private schools.
The project aims to provide the largest possible number of new eyeglasses to children from families with low-income in Qatar and involve the community in supporting them, the statement adds.
The schools covered by the initiative in its first phase are Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Preparatory Independent School for Boys, Halima Al Sadia Primary School for Girls and MES Indian School, in addition to other schools in Doha, 
Al Khor and Muaither.
Coinciding with the start of the 2018/2019 academic year, Qatar Charity had launched  the ‘Bring me Back to School’ campaign to meet the school needs and expenses of  children, especially primary school students, belonging to low-income families and support their education, as it is one of their basic rights.
