The Honduran coastguard was on Wednesday searching for a fishing vessel that was believed to have sunk with dozens of people on board, local media reported.
The MS Miss Francely had capacity for 31 people, army spokesman Jose Domingo Meza told the news programme TN5. However, it was carrying about 40 people, according to the report.
The 13-metres-long vessel was reported by the merchant navy to have suffered an accident off Honduras' north-eastern coast early Wednesday.
A coastguard vessel "is already in the area, carrying out search and rescue tasks," Meza said.
