The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will implement a partial closure on Ruwais Street in both directions, between Al Shamal Health Centre and Ruwais Street’s intersection with Al Hawaya Street (before the Al Ruwais shopping mall) from Tuesday for a period of three months.
The closure will be carried out in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a statement.
During the period of closure, vehicles coming from Madinat Al Shamal Street and heading towards the Al Ruwais shopping mall can turn right to Al Meena Street, then left to Al Ghariya Street and use Al Gheena Street leading to the mall, the statement explains.
Traffic heading back from the Al Ruwais shopping mall towards Madinat Al Shamal Street can use the same diversion route, as shown on the attached map.
This closure is aimed at allowing works on the Roads and Infrastructure Development Project in Al Shamal - Package 1, which is part of Ashghal’s efforts to rehabilitate the existing roads and establish new and permanent roads in the Al Shamal area.
The authority will instal road signs advising motorists about the traffic shift. Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
