The 13th edition of the ‘Dhanam Awards’ has honoured leading business leaders, including Adeeb Ahamed, who received the ‘NRI Businessman of the Year 2018’ award, during a ceremony held recently in Kochi, India.
The award recognises key icons who have achieved outstanding results, setting them apart as leaders in their own spheres. The jury, headed by Venugopal C Govind, leading financial expert and chartered accountant, announced the winners after a rigorous selection process.
Ahamed was bestowed the title in recognition of his contribution towards the growth of business across various sectors around the world. Ahamed spearheads LuLu Financial Group that runs 180 branches worldwide; Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment firm that owns London’s Great Scotland Yard Hotel; among others, as well as Tablez, a fast-growing retail chain in the UAE and India.
“I am truly honoured to accept the award for NRI Businessman of the Year. And in doing so, I am humbled to represent the NRI community, who are a crucial cog in the wheel of India’s development. I would also like to congratulate my fellow awardees who have carved a niche of their own in their fields of expertise.

Other winners included Dr Viju Jacob, managing director of Synthite Industries Limited, who was honoured with the ‘Dhanam Businessman of the Year’ award; Madhu S Nair, CMD of Cochin Shipyard Limited, who was presented the ‘Dhanam Business Professional of the Year’ award; Sajive Manjila, chairman of Manjilas Food Tech, who was awarded the ‘Dhanam SME Enterprise 2018’ award; and Asha Sebastian Mattathil, founder and chief designer of MOD Signature Jewellery, who won the ‘Dhanam Woman Entrepreneur of the Year’ award.
