The Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN) has conducted a specialised training course in sign language for the deaf for a number of QNB Group staff members.
The course is part of a series of training courses organised by the QSRSN with the aim of qualifying all members of society and employees of state institutions, the private sector, and all services and public institutions in communication skills to properly deal with persons with all types of disabilities, the QSRSN has said in a statement.
The courses are provided by the QSRSN through consultants and specialists working with it within Qatar and abroad.
Lecturers at the session included Naji Zakarneh, hearing disability counsellor at the QSRSN and sign language anchor with Al Jazeera, and sign language expert Professor Abdulsalam al-Wardat.
The course was attended by 13 trainees from QNB who received intensive practical training in sign language, with a focus on banking terminology.
At the end of the course, Amir al-Mulla, executive director of the QSRSN, honoured the lecturers and distributed certificates to the trainees.
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani, the chairman of the QSRSN, said that the course is part of the organisation’s objectives and plans to rehabilitate persons with special needs and integrate them into society, allow them greater convenience and facilitate their access to all types of services, just like the rest of society.
The QSRSN’s goals also aim to guarantee justice and equality to persons with disabilities in the practice of their rights and obtainment of services provided by all state’s institutions, whether private or public, the statement adds.
Besides, the QSRSN aims to train the staff of all state institutions and enable them to serve persons with disabilities of all kinds, including hearing disabilities, efficiently.
Sheikh Thani praised the co-operation between the QSRSN and QNB, and expressed the wish that the fruitful co-operation continues in the interest of people with disabilities.
