Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) has received a donation cheque for QR125,000 from LuLu Hypermarket towards the ‘Charity Products’ projects.
The donation is for social welfare projects carried out by QRCS in Qatar, which benefit many poor and needy families, and is within the framework of co-operation between Qatar Red Crescent and LuLu Hypermarket, according to a press statement.
The cheque handover ceremony was attended by Jassim Mohamed al-Emadi, director of Resource Mobilisation; Abdullah Hamed al-Mulla, director of Communication; and Manal Issa al-Fuhaid, director of General Resources; from QRCS; as well as by Shaijan M O, regional director; Shanavas P M, regional manager; and other officials from LuLu Hypermarket.
Al-Emadi said: “Qatar Red Crescent is always seeking to develop channels of donation commensurate with the spirit of the times and the wishes of donors. Qatar Red Crescent will seek in the coming period to create more humanitarian products that will expand the scope of charitable work, which is commensurate with the vision of development adopted by QRCS in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He thanked LuLu Hypermarket for its support to humanitarian projects in general and for the partnership with QRCS in particular. He hoped that all businesses would follow LuLu’s path to serve humanity and provide it with all that is necessary.
Shaijan M O said: “We at LuLu Hypermarket are very grateful for the excellent co-operation with Qatar Red Crescent, who participated in the ‘Charity Products’ project. We also thank LuLu customers for the trust they have placed in paying part of the sales for the benefit of poor families.”
‘Charity Products’ is an innovative donation initiative whose idea is to allocate part of the sales of some goods to those projects.
It was agreed to market the charity products between Qatar Red Crescent and LuLu Hypermarket earlier. The project has received a high turnout from the customers of LuLu.”
This partnership is part of a memorandum of understanding between QRCS and LuLu Hypermarket as a legal basis for partnership between the two parties in mobilising community support for charitable and humanitarian activities carried out by Qatar Red Crescent within and outside Qatar, with the authorisation of the charity organisation 90/2019.
Qatar Red Crescent seeks to achieve its mission of preserving lives and human dignity, which is also an essential contributor to the goals set for Qatar National Vision 2030.
