Katara – the Cultural Village has opened two art exhibitions – ‘Land of the Dark’ by artist Noor al-Hadi from Sudan and ‘Portrait’ by Qatari artist Ebtesam al-Saffar and Indian artist Surabhi Gaikwad – featuring several unique artworks.
Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti inaugurated the two exhibitions at a ceremony attended by several diplomats, art enthusiasts and other guests.
“Besides hosting local artists and their artwork, Katara always opens its doors to host artists from different countries and art trends, which expand our goals”, said Dr al-Sulaiti, who toured the exhibitions and examined the artworks, which were based on different art trends.
The ‘Land of the Dark’ exhibition at Building 18 features 32 artworks, which reflect the Sudanese culture and its rich heritage in a unique way, presenting different eras in the Sudanese history, as well as introducing the local customs of different places in Sudan.
The ‘Portrait’ exhibition at Building 19 is a combined effort between al-Saffar and Gaikwad and forms part of the Qatar-India 2019 Year of Culture.
The two exhibitions are open daily from 10am to 10pm, and will run until July 13.
