The General Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) unanimously elected at the opening session of its 41st Session held in Rome on Saturday, HE Qatar's Minister of Municipality and Environment Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie as Vice-President of the FAO General Conference.
Qatar has been unanimously elected as a member of the FAO Council for the fourth consecutive session.
Qatar is represented at the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) by Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki, ambassador of Qatar to Italy and its Permanent Representative to United Nations agencies United Nations in Rome.
The council prepares the annual financial budget of the organisation and its projects to eradicate poverty, hunger and undernourishment in the world. 
The meetings will witness the election of a new Director General of the Organisation. France, China and Georgia are competing for this position.
