Qatar's Attorney General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri has signed cooperation agreements aimed at long-term strategic cooperation with 20 states and areas in the US.
The agreements also are aimed at consolidation of efforts to combat transnational criminal organisations, terrorism and corruption, and effective cooperation between law enforcement institutions.
The agreements also cover cooperation in confronting international conditions and challenges in the fight against organised crime, terrorism and corruption; ensuring the consolidation of the principles of justice, safety, freedom and respect for human rights; and the promotion of economic prosperity for all citizens in both countries.
Signed on the sidelines of the attorney-general's participation in the annual conference of western states' general attorneys held in the US city of Santa Barbra, the pacts also provided for cooperation in the prevention, investigation and prosecution of organised crimes and to overcome the obstacles of international borders.
The two sides also agreed to make efforts and work on joint projects that would improve bilateral cooperation and the exchange of practices to improve efforts to combat trans-border crimes.
They also agreed on the exchange of legal and technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, study trips and facilitation of the exchange of employees between the signatories to the agreement.
Hosted by General Attorney of California Xavier Becerra and New Mexico General Attorney Hector Balderas, the two-day conference began Wednesday.
At the outset of the conference General Attorneys, who made significant contributions through their work in collaboration with the 'Alliance Partners in Africa' organisation, were honoured.
It witnessed many sessions that discussed the economy, the impact of the new laws in California, sports betting on the Internet, the settlement of federal requirements, the tax effects panel, the cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.
