The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) launched Monday an awareness and control campaign to upgrade industrial support services in the Doha, Al Wakra, Al Khor & Al Thakhira and Al Shamal municipalities.
The initiative aims to improve conditions at various establishments, companies, garages, workshops etc and enhance their awareness of municipal control laws and regulations in order to ensure cleanliness in the said areas.
Implementation of the campaign is part of the MME's commitment to support industrial service areas in different municipalities, where the country has carried out various development projects in the field of infrastructure, such as sewage networks, construction of streets and many other services, the municipality has said in a statement.
The campaign will continue until the end of the year.
The initiative involves raising awareness of the need to reduce municipal violations of all types - pertaining to health, public or technical issues - as well as stressing the need to eliminate the phenomenon of the abandoning vehicles on different roads and maintaining the development of infrastructure in industrial areas.
In this regard, Doha Municipality has implemented an inspection campaign in industrial areas within its jurisdiction since April. A team from the municipality has instructed a large section of industrial area users on relevant rules and regulations through various awareness pamphlets and flyers. These include information on regulations pertaining to State and private property, food control, public hygiene and other related issues.
This campaign implemented by the municipality in April and May resulted in the issuance of 156 violation reports and the removal of 419 abandoned vehicles, out of the 721 vehicles detected, in addition to other developments.
The MME's awareness and control campaign entails the printing of 5,000 brochures to raise awareness of related issues among the target audience across the municipalities mentioned above.
