Qatar’s Cherif and Ahmed go down

Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan bowed out of the four-star Warsaw stop on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour yesterday. The seventh seeded pair lost to third seed Russians Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy 20-22, 19-21 in a hard-fought encounter in the third round.
Krasilnikov and Stoyanovskiy also made it to semis after they beat Brazil’s Alison Cerutti and Alvaro Morais Filho 21-14, 21-16 in the quarters.
Norway’s Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Sorum will play against Krasilnikov and Oleg Stoyanovskiy in the semi-finals. A Russian team will feature in the other semi-finals as well. Konstantin Semenov and Ilya Leshukov will face Brazil’s Evandro Goncalves Oliveira Junior & Bruno Oscar Schmidt for a spot in the final.
