The Qatari Beach Volleyball duo of Ahmed Tijan and Sherif Younis on Thursday beat Slovenia's Jan Pokersnik and Nejc Zemljak 2 - 0 (24 - 22 and 21 - 18) in the four-star Warsaw stop of the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
Today the Qatari team will play their second match in the tournament, against the USA's Trevor Crabb and Tri Bourne.
The Warsaw round is a major stop in the qualifiers for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo next year. Qatar is ranked third in the standings with 2520 points.
