Speaking to QNA, manager of Souq Waqif Mohamed al-Salem said that the organisation of this celebration every year is to bring happiness and joy to everyone in these blessed days, especially as Souq Waqif is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Qatar.
He pointed out that the events of Eid al-Fitr will be held inside a large air-conditioned tent in Al Ahmad square, which includes games, programmes and a variety of plays for children.
Al-Salem pointed out that the organisation of events inside the tent is due to the weather conditions in this part of the year, adding that the festival is also accompanied by activities and workshops for children by Souq Waqif centre for arts throughout the Eid.
Souq Al Wakrah manager Khalid Saif al-Suwaidi told QNA that the souq will host the Eid al-Fitr festival for the second year following the success of the first edition last year.
He added that the festival will be held in a large tent in the market containing more than 40 individual skills and games on the waterfront, as well as artistic performances, acrobatics and more, every day from 4pm to 10pm. He added that the events will be accompanied by fireworks for five days starting at 8:30pm and pointed out that the organisation of this event came due to the high demand for it because of the beautiful scenes it creates on the waterfront of Souq Al Wakrah.
Al-Suwaidi pointed out that Souq Al Wakrah is ready to receive the masses, whether by providing electric cars for smooth navigation or vital facilities, restaurants, and cafes.
