The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has explained the highlights and benefits of its application, which has been developed “to provide easy access to information and services provided by the ministry”. 
One of the highlights of the application is the travel pre-registration service, which allows users to register and share their travel details through a secure connection with the ministry. 
Another important service provided by the MoFA app is ‘Request Assistance’, where citizens can submit emergency requests in real time. 
The app also provides information on Qatari missions abroad, accredited diplomatic missions in Qatar and visa requirements, for both Qataris travelling abroad and non-Qataris travelling to Qatar. 
The application can be downloaded for use on iOS and Android mobile devices, and one has to search ‘MOFA Qatar’ on the App Store or Google Play.
Further elaborating, the MoFA says anyone can benefit from the information available on the app, which has been created “as a communications platform between citizens and residents in Qatar and the ministry”. However, citizens have exclusive use of specific functions such as the ‘Request Assistance’ function and travel pre-registration.
Highlighting the importance of pre-registration, the ministry explains the service allows it to reach a person in case of any emergency in the country she/he is travelling to.
The app also offers facilities such as attestation status check as well as auxiliary services like currency exchange information, weather forecasts and prayer times.
Besides the contact details of Qatar’s missions abroad and accredited missions in Qatar, the app provides toll-free numbers, visa and attestation information and MoFA news.
One of the features of the application is ‘Send Your Location’, whereby the app sends one’s location details to the ministry when that person requests for assistance through the ‘send my location’ option. 
On how to contact the embassy in the country one is travelling to, the ministry says the full contact details (including locations) of all Qatari embassies abroad can be found in the ‘Qatar’s Missions Abroad’ section or the ‘Location Map’ section.
The application constantly checks for updates and will notify the user to update the content.
On how it can reach the users of its mobile app, the ministry says this can be done by referring to the information they have provided through the travel pre-registration service, or by sending a push notification to all users of the application.
