His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani on Thursday issued Law No13 of 2019 on the establishment of the Media City. Under the law the Media City shall have a moral personality and an independent budget.
Its borders and co-ordinates shall be determined by a decision of the Council of Ministers.
The Media City aims at managing and developing media activity in Qatar, and enhancing its position as a venue for attracting international media, technology companies, research and training institutions in media and digital media, in addition to supporting and promoting digital and technological media projects, achieving economic and professional integration with various state projects, and providing an attractive interactive environment through companies licensed to work in the Media City.
The law is effective on the day following its publication in the official gazette.
