When I realised Ramadan is nearly ending there was a little cloud of sadness, knowing we will say goodbye to this beautiful month until next year. It has been a beautiful month filled with fasting, prayer and time spent with loved ones. It has also been a time of togetherness, contentment, faith and reflection.
Lately, the discussions that I have been having with both, friends and coaching clients makes me believe that omnipresent fear is one of the biggest obstacles in our peace, happiness and general progression in life.
When I say fear, I don’t necessarily mean terror. But, what I am referring to is all the things that make us anxious, nervous, tense and that which brings on the need for us to want to control our surroundings. The root cause of fear is distrust. When we are betrayed, injured or abused, we decide that the world and those around us cannot be trusted. In this way, we lose that faith which is so vital in life.
What is the answer? My antidote to fear is to firmly root myself in God (by whatever name, whatever form you choose). When I remind myself that God is always with me, always for me, I never feel afraid, regardless of the circumstances going on around me.
Yes, colleagues or family members and friends may betray us, they may deeply hurt us, but if we give ourselves to God, if we make our relationship with Him our first priority then we will never be broken inside; we will always be cared for.
God had a plan for us long before we even realised, we are being prepared for it. Never forget to trust God, because with that trust the results will be beautiful.
Being calm about everything allows your mind to find solutions. Calmness is also a state of trust. Instead of overthinking and over reacting just surrender for that moment and allow yourself to receive guidance for what doesn’t make sense. It’s easy to get caught up with the stresses and struggles of daily life, but faith is an active decision. Choosing faith over fear is a decision I make every day.
