The Advisory Council held its regular weekly meeting on Monday under the chairmanship of HE the Council's Deputy Speaker Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti.

The council discussed the report of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee on the draft law on combating money laundering and terrorism financing.

The committee recommended that some of the articles of the draft be amended.

After the discussion the council approved the amended version of the draft law and decided to send its recommendations thereon to the government.

The council discussed the report of the Public Services and Utilities Committee on draft law amending certain provisions of Law No 15 of 2010 on prohibiting the housing of workers' within the residential areas of families.

The council also discussed the report of the Internal and External Affairs Committee on the draft law regarding fireworks, which included a recommendation to amend two articles of the draft law.

The council concluded its session by discussing the report of the Public Services and Utilities Committee on the request for a general discussion on the terrestrial and marine environment.

In the report, the committee recommended to hold an awareness campaign through all media outlets and social media platforms to emphasise the necessity and importance of preserving the environment as one of the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The committee recommended to activate laws related to preserving the environment, which works to protect environmental life, both land or sea, through tightening control over the misbehavior of some, increasing the number of inspectors and finding the appropriate mechanisms for treating environmental waste of all kinds.

After extensive discussion of the report, the council requested the committee to continue to examine the issue of the environment due to its importance in light of the comments and observations raised by the members of the council during their discussions at yesterday's meeting.
